Are you interested in documenting the ‘Cefn Fforest Story’? We are looking to set up a new group that will record the history, and the present, of the village.
Cefn Fforest is a village with more than it’s fair share of characters and stories. The village has produced sporting champions, world renowned scientists, musicians, poets and a world class jazz band. It has even been the setting for a Hollywood movie.
Built to provide accommodation for workers in local mines Cefn Fforest is steeped in working class history. Yet very little of the village’s story has been documented. We want to put that right and need your help.
Want to write a story, record a podcast, take some photos, make a video or just share some memories? You don’t need any skills, just enthusiasm for Cefn Fforest.
We can sit down with people and talk about the village, get stories of the past or or the present. They could be some of the villages more ‘famous’ inhabitants or local characters. Tales of sporting achievements, musical adventures or just anecdotes about life in a close knit valleys community.
Those interested can get together and decide what we want to do – we could produce a magazine or a book, we could record podcasts or make videos or just publish stories on this website. We can include training in how to record sound, take photographs or just learn the skills of talking to people. We could invite guests to talk to us or have training workshops. The group can decide how they want to go forward.
Now that The ‘Stute is open we can look to have regular meetings in the building.
