An all day music event, featuring live music from The Right Honorables, Moosehead and The Band of Brothers, in Blackwood Rugby Club raised £550 for our charity.

Saturday 6th July started optimistically, with Band of Brothers setting up their gear on the outdoor stage, but as soon as they started playing the heavens opened and we had to move everything indoors to avoid electrocution.

Undeterred, Band of Brothers played a familiar set of popular cover versions, entertaining those that had arrived early.

Moosehead followed, playing a slightly heavier set of covers pleasing the rockers in the crowd.

As day rolled into evening, we started selling tickets for the evening raffle and they were flying out, not just to those attending our event: the rugby posse in the bar were incredibly generous and supportive.

Eventually the final act of the night, The Right Honorables, who had travelled up from Swansea for the night, had the crowd up and dancing through their cool selection of mod, punk and rock covers.

When it came to totting up the totals for the night, we had raised £550 through the generosity of the club and attendees.

The Rugby Club had provided facilities free of charge and generously donated raffle prizes – so we cannot thank them enough for their magnificent support for our cause. And, of course, a big high five to those that came along, enjoyed the evening and contributed to our project to restore Cefn Fforest Miners Institute.

A special thanks must go to Kelvin Rees for being our link with the Rugby Club, DJing through the day, and providing a huge fruit and veg hamper for the raffle.
